This is a truly heart warming and entertaining filming. We showed it at our monthly film club it got voted 100%, voted excellent by everybody. This is a first! The subject of an old man who tries to commit suicide, to join his dead wife, seems depressing. The film is anything but depressing, it is a joy. it is heart warming, humorous and uplifting. Ove fails to commit suicide several times due to his sense of obligation to answer his door bell and help people. The people who foil his suicide attempts become his new family. He finds new reasons to live through his old friends and his immigrant neigbours and their children, with relationships that are mutually beneficial. My advice is WATCH THIS FILM.

The theme of this film has scope to be fun, entertaining and uplifting. Hollywood does what it so often does and produces corny mush with no soul. It tries to get dramatic effect by making the antics of an old lady unrealistic. If it had played it straight, and showed the true vulnerability of Thelma with genuine humour and soul it may have made a good film! This is not worth watching.
