This is the worst production of Wuthering Heights I have ever seen. The director makes use of a hand held camera with the associated shake and loss of focus and only manages to utilise 2/3 of the screen. Bronte's superb novel is reduced to a series of scences largely shot in darkness with Heathcliffe, devoid of meaningful lines, lurking in hedges. The novel provides excellent character and relationship development all of which is lost by the director who substitutes modern expletives in the most extraordinary places and 3 scenes of dogs being hung. The only aspect which has merit is the excellent landscape metaphor. Avoid.
I agree with the previous review. The plot was not too challenging but you do need to concentrate. Overall a great film with an interesting philosophy.
Others have said they had a problem with the sound. I had the Blue ray version and have a 5.1 system. The sound was great with the narrative particularly clear.
An intriguing look into Dylan Thomas’s life during the war years which weaves and interesting web between his love for two women, one a childhood lover and the other his wife. All of which contrasts with the anguish felt on the battlefield and in the bedroom. Throughout Thomas’s verse is used to good affect and is supported by excellent performances from Mathew Rhys (Thomas) Keira Knightly (his lover) and Sienna Miller (his wife).
