This is a hard watch, but we felt really important. The 'story' of what was happening in 2073 is not particularly vital. It is the gathering together of how we are heading that way that we felt needs to be shouted from the rooftops. A crucial record, joining the dots, of the planet and humankind's descent into the abyss, unless we push back.
We did enjoy this film. It took a gentler approach than other films, looking to tell the multi-layered stories of mid 1960s America. Fine performances from the cast. Ultimately a reminder that nothing involving humans is simple.
A bit speechless at how awful this was. We are big Gillian fans and cannot comprehend why she did this sorry excuse for a movie. No depth. No characters to connect with. No explanation or point to anything. Surprised it took so long for the accuracy of the tale to be questioned. I won't go on as it'd be even more boring than the film.
I was glued to this all the way through. Beautifully filmed and acted by everyone. Like the best real life movies, it said so much beyond dialogue. McDormand is stellar, but then is everyone. Bringing home the harshness of a society without an adequate safety net that relies on the kindness of strangers where found. Beautiful all round.
