As the fictional 2024 Olympic Games in Ludoj approach, 'Agon' tells the stories of three female athletes as they prepare for and compete in shooting, fencing, and judo. The women are portrayed in the political, social, technological, and physical contexts that dominate the highest levels of athletic competition and performance. Drawing inspiration from the historical figures of Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and Russian cavalry officer Nadezhda Durova, 'Agon' explores a contemporary account of the contradictions of these three sports - born in peacetime as training for warfare, then evolving into professional and recreational disciplines, and more recently embracing the world of video games, thus creating a new form of competitive sport. - Actors:
