In 1942, the Japanese army sent nearly 2,000 British prisoners of war back to Japan with the warship "Lisbon". Unfortunately, the ship sank at sea near Dongji Island, Zhoushan, China. During this sea disaster, Charles was separated from his wife and daughter but was rescued by local fishermen from Dongji Island. He returned to England after experiencing many hardships. Before his death, Charles asked his granddaughter Kelly to help him fulfill an unfulfilled wish - to go to Dongji Island to find his family members and repay the fishermen for their kindness. With the help of the smart but calculating Zhou Ling and the sincere and kind Hai Sheng and Xiang Xiang, Kelly was able to find several people who remembered her grandfather. History is replayed in their minds: the Japanese army shot British people in the water to cover up their crimes; local fishermen sacrificed their lives to save these British people...
