Synopsis:
Two thousand years ago, a mysterious legion of extremely fearsome warriors charged along the famous Silk Road. Dressed in exquisitely carved amour, the legion used weapons and battle formations that had never been seen in China. The soldiers were part of a Roman legion led by General Lucius (John Cusack), marching east to protect Publius, the youngest son of Consul Crassus, from his vicious, evil brother Tiberius (Adrien Brody). After becoming lost in the desert Lucius and his army arrive at Wild Geese Gate, where they are welcomed by Huo An (Jackie Chan), the Commander of the Silk Road Protection Squad of the Western Region.
The two men - who have each been framed for treason - earn each other's respect and form an allegiance as Tiberius eventually arrives with his army demanding Huo An hand over Lucius and Lucius or witness his forces annex China. To protect his country and to clear his name of treason, Huo An gathers all the allies of China to unite together and take on Tiberius in an epic battle that wilI be remembered forever...

Risible nonsense - Dragon Blade review by Alphaville

Spoiler Alert
02/04/2016

Opening with epic landscapes and portentous titles about a Roman legion on the Silk Road, this risible nonsense immediately descends into the usual Jackie Chan play-fighting hokum and from then on it’s impossible to take seriously. All the fight scenes are lengthily choreographed past the point of boredom, John Cusack is difficult to believe in a thankless role as a legionnaire, there are long stretches of east-meets-west détente and the widescreen vistas soon deteriorate into middling cgi. Looks like it would have been fun more to make than watch. Thank goodness for baddie Adrian Brodie, who turns up after an hour to add some much-needed gravitas, but by then it’s too late to save the movie. One star for those vistas.

What a lot of rot. Incomprehensible rubbish. Boring and senseless this film has all the interest and charisma of a piece of stale bread.

15 minutes of my life wasted! - Dragon Blade review by SA

Spoiler Alert

I stuck it out for 15 minutes and then gave up watching this rubbish. Not recommended even for a Saturday night brain numbing film.
