- Set in 1983 as Roald Dahl (John Lithgow) prepares book "The Witches" for publication, his career is overshadowed by backlash against a recent literary review of the picture book "God Cried" about the siege of West Beirut by the Israeli army during the 1982 Lebanon War is considered antisemitic. As pressure mounts, Dahl must decide whether to issue a public apology or stand by his words, knowing his reputation hangs in the balance.
