Synopsis:
Earth. Early in die 21st Century. Much has changed since the last mortal kombat. A universe which was once balanced by a system based on honour and tradition is now governed by chaos and deceit. Dark forces from sinister realms have begun invading Earth. The only warriors who could possibly meet this challenge are Defenders of the Realm.

The Secret of Quan Chi
Quan Chi, a free-roaming sorcerer versed in the Dark Arts, uses an ancient gem to turn our heroes against one another...
Acid Tongue
During an intense battle, against Komodai, a reptilian ninja, Jax suffers an injury to his bionics. A rare chip from the bionics is lost in action. His unique arms cannot be repaired before the Kombatants are forced into action again. Jax is facing his worse fear - that he is nothing without his strength.
Old Friends Never Die
Sub-zero has a run-in with his old friend smoke, who is now programmed to destroy the ice-ninja. Sub-zero must convince the cyber assassin that he still has a soul, before Smoke takes him out.
Fall from Grace
Sonya's recklessness injures Stryker, and the MK team votes to suspend her. As the rest of the team struggles to drive back an assault on the Earth Realm, Sonya and the injured Stryker are the only ones left to defend the MK headquarters against an invasion by Shao Kahn Warriors.
Kombat Begins Again
While the MK's are battling Cyrax and Sketor, they are joined by Sub-zero. This triggers memories and self-doubt in Liu Kang, and mistrust for the ice-ninja in Sonya and the others. When Headquarters is attacked, Sub-Zero must prove where his loyalties really fall.
The Swords of llkan
Sonya is feeling overwhelmed by the endless fighting and the lack of any other females to relate to. Sonya tries to get close to the elusive Kitana, who is faced with a painful part of her past when they travel to a Realm ruled by a ruthless Amazon-like Warrior.
Familiar Red
Nightwolf repeatedly sends the MKs to "rips" that don't appear to exist. They begin to think his computer skills are shot. Finally, Nightwolf discovers that it's a clever ruse, which Kano is behind. Discovering Kano is still alive triggers intense feelings in Sonya, feelings that she failed her partner.
Abandoned
Feeling overwhelmed by the endless fighting and the need for a real life, Jax Considers quitting the team. While he is away, the Emperor Shao Kahn is easily able to capture the MK. As the story unfolds, Jax comes to realise that no matter where he goes he needs to find balance between his needs and his duty.
