Every railway enthusiast will enjoy this superb programme, which lovingly captures steam and diesel engines dating as far back as the 1930's. There's steam traction on its way out, and early green DMU's coming In. Then a flashback to the 30s, little tank engines hauling 4 and 6 wheel coaches, local passenger trains in Silloth and Coronation Scots at Carlisle (rare early colour films). Liverpool Street Station in 1932 with commuter trains moving in and out. Next, to wartime; NE A4's in black livery. Class 78 Electrics. The Belfast 5'3" gauge to Larne. Many 1950s scenes Including steam sheds. DEMUs take over from Southern Locos. Stanmore to Harrow steam branch and In the 60's KESR Is taken over by the preservationists. A 4's going Into retirement, Barry Isle scenes, trains at Euston, Paddington and Clapham. Industrials and the last Brighton Belle, Class 52 Westerns and Celtic diesels are already on the way out.
