Leonardo, presented by Alan Yentob, is the portrait of a genius of extraordinary diversity who lived a roller-coaster life of success and failure; who associated with the most powerful figures of the day, yet remained an outsider; who fought a succession of bitter rivalries and who suffered a personal battle to come to terms with a world of demons.
Through modern technology and dramatic reconstruction, the colourful life and amazing achievements of this extraordinary artist, scientist and engineer are revealed. Myths are exposed, paintings assessed and inventions tested in compelling re-evaluations that reveal the true nature of his genius.
The series follows the highs and lows of Leonardo's life: learning his craft at the heart of the Renaisance movement and facing execution at the stake; his rivalry with Michelangelo and the unveiling of his masterpiece The Last Supper.
