Cup-Tie Honeymoon

The most boring football film I have seen

(Edit) 04/11/2023

I thought this would be great, has I love old British comedies & Football, but I found it boring (no where near enough football in it for a start), it all talking & most of the jokes went right above my head, it didn't help that it was a cheap copy of a cheaply made film and the sound was terrible, I wasn't always hearing every word that was said properly & has a result wasn't able to fully follow what was going on, it doesn't help that I seem to have a problem of getting half the actors and actresses muddled on some black and white films has they all seem to be dressed the same in the same colours and half of them seem to have the same colour hair too, (that I guess is that I am more use to colour films and I can't always remember the exact shape of the face & or hair style, unless they have something that stands out)

Avoid this one, especially if you prefer visual comedy, unless you don't mind using subtitles.

Steven Gerrard: A Year in My Life

Boring, and not enough Liverpool

(Edit) 14/05/2022

I thought I would give it a watch being a Liverpool & Steven Gerrard fan expecting it to follow a season from Stevie's point of view may be get to see his house meet his family maybe see what he gets up to when he's not playing or training & also met Carragher and the rest of his team mates off the field.

But you got hardly any football & & you didn't get to meet his team mates instead you got mismatched bits of when he's did some adverts & some bits you weren't sure what it was about or what was so special about it, when I do get to meet some of his relatives I don't know who they are, if mentioned its too quick I didn't catch it, maybe that was my problem I wasn't always catching everything said with the Liverpudian accent (nothing against it and don't remember having a problem when I went on holiday to Liverpool about 12/13 years ago).

this will probably be okay if there's any Steven Gerrard fans who don't actually like football.

Fireball Xl5: A Day in the Life of a Space General

not what I was expecting,

(Edit) 11/03/2022

I thought this was a feature length fireball XL5, or at least a few episodes or it which 1st one was titled a day in the life of a space general, but its just one normal length episode with a episode of four feather falls (a earlier series by Gerry Anderson), ok I didn't mine too much has I have never had the chance to see the early Gerry Anderson serieses.

half of the disc is a documentary about the making of the series Fireball XL5, which might be of interest to fans of the series, but though a Gerry Anderson fan I only found half interesting has, this was the first time I had seen this series, had it wasn't one of his serieses that got shown on normal television in the 90s, so I didn't even know who that monkey puppet was, only knew the characters that were in this episode which is focused more on the 2 in the command center/watch tower or what ever it is, than steve or Venus.

worth watching but remember only one episode which I think was the last one coupled with a episode of another series (which isn't anything to do with space etc) and a documentary thats over an hour (longer than 2 Gerry Anderson episodes put together)

Pinocchio

Boring

(Edit) 12/03/2021

I found the film boring and sometimes wasn't sure what was happening or fully sure what was being said because they were speaking fast in the fashion of Europeans though was in English, (I did not notice any poor dubbing, didn't look very hard either). Definitely the worst version of Pinocchio I have seen & I have seen about every version I know has I normally enjoy the story, but not this one. There was only 1/2 short funny bits.

Was looking forward to seeing it, despite the very mixed reviews, so disappointed, glad I only borrowed it & not brought it or went saw it at the cinema which I nearly did but decided to see something else.

Not for young children has there's a couple of scenes that might upset them, has I am a animal lover one scene made me grab my bear and let out a small whimper, though thought he would be alright.

Arthur and Merlin: Knights of Camelot

There is or should be better films surrounding the legend King Arthur

(Edit) 03/12/2020

Wasn't what I was expecting, not much merlin, about a couple of minutes all together 3 minutes if you include this eagle or what ever bird it was, which was meant to be merlin in bird form, so why call it Arthur and Merlin I don't know.

Camalot looked like a computer generated castle.

Not a lot of action or magic, which are the 2 things I associate with Arthur and merlin, there's only a few quick sword fights and that's it.

Dolittle

I enjoyed it, it's a lot of fun

(Edit) 14/07/2020

It's a lot of fun, just has long has you don't take it seriously. With the negative reviews I read wasn't sure what to expect, so hired it & now I what to buy it, I thought it was great fun, just don't try to compare it to any other dolittle films, weather it's the modern day American version or the old black and white version, it's different to much.

The accent didn't bother me, I couldn't place it, but that doesn't bother me, purhaps it's because I'm tone deaf or didn't realise he was suspose to be Welsh and didn't even pick up on any cockney accents, but then I don't always bother with the accents & just concentrate on the story being told.

A Monster Calls

Good drama, but very sad in places.

(Edit) 08/04/2018

I sort of enjoyed it, but wasn't has good has I thought it would be, has I was really looking forward to seeing this film, so slightly disappointed, but then I don't enjoy films dealing with death of loved ones or similarlying sad subjects, they're things I seem to run away from etc, even in real life if I can. But I did like the monster, though I didn't think it was a scary monster, but then it probably wasn't ment to be.

If you enjoy good dramas & can cope with the sad scenes then I would give it a watch, but don't watch the making of the film in the extras unless you like subtitles, has most of is done by the people who worked behind the scenes & they were moreless all non English speaking people & quite often didn't allow me enough time to read them so I kept having to go back and use the purse button has i'am not a quick reader.
