A real feelgood film. Fairly predictable, but with a wonderful cast. Penelope Wilton at her best. Lovely story of loss, love, a shared determination and a development of mind and passion.

I don't know if it is just me, but the subject matter combined with the time it was set in, was a gut wrencher waiting to happen. Horrid scenes of animals being killed and bombed, and Nazis everywhere. I gave it about half an hour and then gave up. Also Jessica Chastain speaks in such an incoherent squeaky accent, that it is very hard to hear and understand what she is saying. Altogether a disaster!!

This film promised so much with its bevy of fine actors, but it's nod to so many other similar films, see other reviews, made it predictable. It also defied the belief in stupidity on behalf of the crew. I was looking forward to it but it was particularly gruesome and ghastly in parts. Watchable but a bit hmmmm throughout. Beautiful Rebecca Fergus on always a draw. Memorable film though because of the nasty alien. Won't forget THAT in a hurry.

Unbearably poignant with the death of their son, and being stuck together in vicious, suspicious, cold Berlin. The interplay between the two main characters and the unfolding, eventual meeting of souls, suggests a flower growing unexpectedly between the cracks of a grey pavement. Bring in the third character, and it shows the relentless propaganda machine, that is fueled by hatred and anger, and the few who allow themselves to 'see' , and what happens to them. A true story, and worth the watch. Learn something from it, there is so much there......
