The Four Tops were among a number of groups who helped define the Motown Sound of the 1960's, including The Miracles, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Temptations, and The Supremes.

The Four Tops were notable for having Stubbs, a baritone, as their lead singer; most groups of the time were fronted by a tenor. After 40 years of performing together, The Four Tops were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked them #79 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time! This video shows why The Four Tops have remained a part of history for so long! Recorded live on September 23, 2006 at the Stardust in Las Vegas, the performance includes band members Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Roquel Payton, Theo Peoples and Ronnie McNeir!

Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs, the Montreux Jazz Festival has established itself as one of the most prestigious annual music events in the world. The extraordinary list of artists who have played there is drawn from across the musical spectrum and from around the world.

The Average White Band only performed at Montreux in 1977 but their concert was definitely one of the highlights of that year's festival. From the opening bars of their signature tune "Pick Up The Pieces" through to a storming version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" at the end they hold the audience in the palm of their hand. In between they sprinkle hits such as "Work To Do", "A Love Of Your Own" and "Cut The Cake".
