I really loved the first BR film. The sequel is a confused, overly long hot mess. The story is full of contradictory plot holes, the child actors not nearly as good as the first film and a lot of the violence is pointlessly gratuitous. Main character motivations are muddled and not resolved as the film goes on. Such a shame as the first film is so brilliant. Honesty, just don’t bother. You won’t get the 288 mins back.
I had so much fun watching this film. It combines action, comedy, family and throws a good amount of Bond in for good measure. It deftly manages to be silly while keeping you rooting for the heroine. The actions sets are great and it reminded me of Scott pilgrim versus the world in parts. The actors are committed and brilliant. There are several laugh out loud moments and the three school friends scenes steal the show. I bloody loved this film. Five stars!
I had this film in my list for ages as I loved the first two films but was put off by the poor box office and mixed reviews. It was much better than I expected. I had a really good time watching this and it’s a shame that there won’t be sequels. There was great chemistry with the leads, smart & funny lines throughout and the fighting is much more based in reality than the gravity defying moves of the first two films. I thought Elizabeth Banks did a great job with this film. It’s a Friday film that isn’t taking but is definitely a hoot. Give it a go.
There is barely any story, the pace is sluggish and almost nothing of note happens. For it being an apparently LGBT film the cast spends a lot of time talking about girls and sex with girls. There is a lot of lingering groin camera shots and plenty of male full frontal nudity but it’s feels gratuitous rather than adding something to the story. One to avoid.
