Synopsis:
Jimmy McGovern's continuing series of standalone dramas invites guest writers and well-known actors to examine characters on the verge of momentous change. In "Taxi for Linda" by Johanne McAndrew and Elliot Hope, Frank (John Thomson) and Linda (Julie Hesmondhalgh) both work as controllers for a minicab firm. When smooth-talking driver Terry (Shane Richie) starts dating Linda, Frank suspects all is not what it seems. Nick Leather's "Passengers" sees Paul Copley's widowed pensioner Ronnie befriend neighbour Helen (Eve Myles), and start teaching her to drive. Believing that her partner is beating her, he calls in the social services and she abruptly ends the lessons.
In "A Picture of Innocence" by Shaun Duggan, Hayley (Emma Fryer) is shocked to find intimate photographs of her schoolgirl daughter Ruby (Imogen King) posted online and attracting lewd comments. Discovering that Ruby posed for the shots to impress an older boyfriend, Hayley sets out to defend her daughter. In Colette Kane's "Love" Angela (Katherine Rose Morley) has devoted her life to taking care of her alcoholic father Mick (Steve Evets). When boyfriend Danny (Samuel Anderson) proposes she turns him down and Danny prepares to leave town, leaving Angela to face a huge decision. Finally "Scratch" by Arthur Ellison and Megan Ellison sees unassuming John (William Ash) pushed by his wife Sarah (Rebecca Callard) into complaining to the noisy builders working next door after a scratch appears on his car. John enlists the help of his volatile brother and watches helplessly as the situation spirals out of control.
