Set in and around the corridors of power, 'Bodyguard' tells the story of David Budd (Richard Madden), a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch (RaSP) of London's Metropolitan Police Service. When he is assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. Responsible for her safety, could he become her biggest threat?
Watched the first 20 minutes of the first episode and it was looking promising - dramatic, intriguing, gripping, beautifully shot. Unfortunately there was too much foul language, especially the "F" word. Sad that script writers can't write a gripping drama without descending into gutter language. Sent the disc back.
Watched this on TV when it came out and hired Discs 1 and 2 to revisit. Gripped from start to finish on both discs. You are kept guessing throughout and it would be difficult to guess how the end of Disc 2 turned out. Might need to suspend disbelief once or twice but good viewing.
