When Nicholas Urfe (Michael Caine), an English schoolteacher, accepts a job on a small island in Greece, it turns out that he is replacing a man who committed suicide under mysterious circumstances. And things get stranger when Nicholas is befriended by Maurice Conchis (Anthony Quinn), a wealthy man known as "the magus," or magician, and Lily, Maurice's beautiful girlfriend (Candice Bergen). Eventually, Nicholas finds himself caught in a web of Maurice's bizarre, sometimes violent mind games. And as he falls deeper under Maurice's spell, fantasy and reality become blurred, until ultimately, Nicholas is in a desperate fight for his own life in this thought-provoking thriller that will leave you guessing until its shocking end!
