The Prestige

Drama/Fantasy/ Illusion

(Edit) 05/02/2020

Interesting film that you will finish watching and think “What was all that about” but then your brain will click in and you will see that absolutely everything is an ILLUSION and a clever one at that.  Good acting and it  will definitely hold your interest.

Wild Rose

Excellent

(Edit) 05/02/2020

This is a brilliant film  and I was delighted to see it being nominated in the British Film Awards.  Jessie Buckley has a beautiful voice and her acting was superb.  The story pulled at the heart strings but comedy was abundant as well.  Enjoyed by all my friends as well.

Late Night

Emma Thompson at her best

(Edit) 10/01/2020

Very entertaining film with a fantastic portrayal of the central character, Katherine Newbury , by Emma Thompson.

Mindy Kaling as Molly in support offers a total contrast with  her niavety and some sharply comic put downs.

The Wife

A Winner for those who enjoy something out of the usual run of films.

(Edit) 22/03/2019

So much of this film obviously went unnoticed by some of the reviewers. The acting was excellent and the script sharp. One of the best films I have seen this year. Such a change not to have to battle through mumbling actors and terrible lighting. Glen Close deserved her nomination for an Oscar in a part that suited her particular style of acting. It is amazing how the reviews differ as if we all saw a different film but then that is perhaps why it was so good - it stirred our emotions in different ways. 4 star definitely.
