Synopsis:
Mytology and Magic
Today a witch is generally thought of as an imaginary character in stories for both children and adults. The word "Witch" conjures visions of old hags travelling on broomsticks, illuminated by the moon of an eerie halloween night, or gathered around a cauldron brewing evil potions.
Just a few Hundred years ago marked one of the most violent and shameful chapters in human history. In the history of witchcraft, the horrors that occurred were more frightening than anything portrayed on the screen. The witch hunts of the past mark one of the many low points in the history of the human condition.
The Art Witchcraft
Modern witchcraft is not only a system of magic, but many consider it to be a modern religion. The word "Witch" itself actually means "wise woman." The origins of witchcraft can actually be traced back to the ancient world of 25,000 years ago. Because nature could be so overwhelming people needed a reason for the unpredictability of the raging seas, the flash of lightning, or the rushing river. Out of this evolved magic, and eventually witchcraft. Witches and witchcraft have spread throughout the modern world, shrouded in mystery and almost always shunned without any thought due to fear of the occult.
