    The Lake House is one of the more unusual entry for the best Time Travel films list. This is a romantic drama starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. A lonely doctor Kate Forster starts to correspond with the architect, both owners of the lake house at one time. With every letter feelings between the two grow stronger, but it's quite a long-distance relationship, to say the least. Somehow, they live two years apart. The film is a remake of the South Korean motion picture Il Mare, and it reunites Reeves and Bullock for the first time since they co-starred in Speed.     The Butterfly Effect is a psychological thriller that focuses on Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher) who has lost crucial memories, scarred by terrifying situations. Since childhood, Treborn suffers blackouts during significant events of his life, but he also realises that by reading his diaries he can go back in time. The title refers to the butterfly effect, an example of chaos theory which illustrates how small differences may lead to unforeseen consequences. As Evan tries to change events in the past, he starts to lose grip of reality. Alongside Kutcher, Amy Smart stars as Evan's childhood sweetheart Kayleigh Miller. Gulf War veteran Jack Starks (Adrien Brody) returns to his native Vermont suffering from amnesia. Upon his return, he is wrongly accused of murdering a police officer and sent to a mental institution for insane criminals, where he becomes the object of Dr. Becker's (Kris Kristofferson) experiments. The Jacket has a quite talented cast including Keira Knightley, Daniel Craig, and Jennifer Jason Leigh; a strong point for sci-fi and fantasy films. Rachel McAdams is Clare Abshire, an artist who shares deep emotional bond with Henry. Claire as his wife must deal with Henry's frequent absences and dangerous experiences. This romantic drama is based on Audrey Niffenegger's novel of the same name. The film is directed by Robert Schwentke who later went on to directed The Divergent series among other projects. Hot Tub Time Machine is a comedy starring John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke. Four friends share a crazy night of drinking in a malfunctioning ski resort hot tub, revisiting the place that once was their number 1 place to party because they're bored with their adult lives, only to wake up in 1986. This is their opportunity to kick some past and change their futures. A sequel, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, was released five years after the original with the mainly same cast.

    Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Max Walker in this sci-fi thriller entry to the best Time Travel films list. Walker is an officer for a security agency that regulates time travel. The film mixes action with special effects, romance and murder, ideal for an action/time travel film night. Timecop was released in 1994, and the plot is set in 2004 where time travel is not only a reality, but an opportunity to alter the past for power and profit. Unfortunately for many, this still isn't possible. Interesting fact: Timecop remains Van Damme's highest-grossing film, and a direct-to-DVD sequel Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision was later released, starring Jason Scott Lee and Thomas Ian Griffith.

    At first you may wonder is Midnight in Paris a time travel film, but the answer is yes. That is why this Woody Allen's title is on the best Time Travel films list. Some of the great cast members worth mentioning are Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates, Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody, and so on.  A successful Hollywood screenwriter (Wilson) is struggling with his first novel while on vacation in Paris with his fiancé (McAdams). Where's the time travel you might say... Well, every day at midnight he finds himself mysteriously going back to the 1920s where he meets extraordinary people including Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald. The film is enchanting and according to many critics, Allen's best work in recent years.

    While Galaxy Quest started as a Star Trek parody, the film gained a quick cult following and is beloved by most of the sci-fi fans out there. The story follows a cast of a cancelled sci-fi series. Twenty years later, aliens under attack have mistaken the Galaxy Quest television transmissions for "historical documents" and beamed up the crew of has-been actors to save the universe. This is probably the film with the least time travel potential on the list as the Omega 13 device sends its user 13 seconds into the past but it's a comedy that should be on everyone's to watch list.
