The Marcus-Nelson Murders (1973)
This film is based on a real case, the Wylie-Hoffert murder. A case that led to a fundamental change in US law. Two young girls are found murdered in their apartment in East Manhatten and Theo Kojak heads up the investigation. When a young black man is arrested and confesses to the murder Kojak is suspicious. Getting a lead from a junkie, Kojak goes on to prove the innocence of one man and the guilt of another.

Kojak poses as a chemist in an effort to snare the thieves of $1,000,000 worth of morphine who are now trying to sell it back to the insurance company. As Kojak begins putting the clues together, his plans are suddenly wrecked when the owner of the morphine decides he wants the police out of the deal.

The series follows him as he works his cases but always runs into problems in his personal life due to his curmudgeonly nature.
Leo McKern stars as the eccentric, bibulous Old Bailey defence lawyer, Horace Rumpole in this magnificent and hugely popular series penned by the barrister-playwright John Mortimer.

After losing ten cases in a row in front of Judge Bullingham, Rumpole decided to retire from the law and has gone to visit his son Nick in America. When he receives a letter requesting his help on a case involving his specialist subject of bloodstains, he sees it as an invitation to return to chambers. The other members of chambers are less than pleased to see him back.
