A tale of a reluctant samurai
- The Hidden Blade review by CP Customer
Set in 19th century Japan, the story of 'The Hidden Blade' revolves around a samurai named Katagiri, who repeatedly sees his duty as a samurai and traditional culture as a barrier to true happiness. Overall, 'The Hidden Blade' is quite similar to director Yoji Yamada's earlier film 'The Twilight Samurai' as in the main theme within the film centers around a tender love story involving a reluctant samurai who wishes for an uncomplicated life. Though not quite as good as Yamada's previous effort, 'The Hidden Blade', it's still a very good film, beautifully directed and highly recommended.
