- In 1880s Wyoming, recently orphaned Lucas Hollister (Patrick Scott McDermott) accidentally kills a rancher and is sentenced to hang. In a twist of fate, his estranged grandfather, the notorious outlaw Harland Rust (Alec Baldwin), breaks him out of jail and takes him on the run toward Mexico. As they flee across the unforgiving wilderness, the fugitive pair must outrun the determined U.S. Marshal Wood Helm (Josh Hopkins) and a ruthless bounty hunter named Preacher (Travis Fimmel).

Beautiful authentic western - Rust review by Alphaville
This film will always be known for the tragedy of its accidental film-set shooting but, if you can put that to one side, it’s a beautiful and engrossing piece of film-making. It’s basically a road movie on horseback as ex-outlaw Alec Baldwin and his young grandson are chased across the Wild West from state to state, not only by a good sheriff but also by a mean bounty hunter. There are some gritty gunfights, but action fanboys should look elsewhere. This is a Western grounded in character, place and time, with wonderful scenery and authentic dialogue. It’s up there with Unforgiven and Open Range. It’s a Western to wallow in.

Decent western thriller - Rust review by HM
A chase movie as an old criminal tries to get his young relative over the Mexican border to avoid being hanged for murder. Decent suspence and lots of gun slinging. Worth a watch.
