A tribute to Sir Bobby Robson with contributions from Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Franz Beckenbauer, Paul Gascoigne, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Terry Butcher and Alan Shearer. At 70 years of age, Sir Bobby Robson is as energetic and passionate about football as ever. In conversation with Gary Lineker, he reflects on the highs and lows of his career; his playing days at Fulham and his sacking as manager of the London club, his success in charge of Ipswich Town, PSV and Porto, and the toll it took on his family life.
He recalls his eight dramatic years in charge of the national side: his vilification by the press; Maradona's infamous 'Hand of God' goal and taking England to within a penalty kick of the 1990 World Cup final. And he tells of his dream come true - a return to his hometown club, Newcastle United, a dream only achieved after a rarely mentioned fight against cancer. As we follow Sir Bobby in his day-to-day duties, from signing autographs to the nitty-gritty of running one of the biggest teams in the land, it is clear that the attributes that won him the respect and admiration of the world's best are having a similar effect on today's players.
