Synopsis:
President Tate (Liam Cunningham), his core team of Stella (Hermione Norris), Cass (Daniel Mays) and Fleur (Amy Manson), and the expeditionaries Mitchell and Jack, have faced personal tragedy and conflict to develop a thriving city. But as the last transporter from Earth approaches - with Stella's daughter and Tate's rival Julius Berger (Eric Mabius) among the passengers - their fragile peace is about to be rocked to its core. With loyalties tested and secrets uncovered, Carpathia's humans struggle to cope with the planet's volatile whiteouts, mysterious life forms and the presence of a hostile exiled group.
Under such tensions, can they really avoid making the mistakes of Earth and build a better world on Carpathia?

If you grew up watching 80s BBC sci-fi you'll probably like it. - Outcasts review by RunDeckardRun

Spoiler Alert

At first I didn't like Outcasts very much and I nearly gave up on it. However, as I watched more episodes I started warming to it and I actually wish that it had gone to a second season which might have allowed it to develop and improve further. A few criticisms out the way: the script and pacing can be quite plodding and laboured at times. The cast seem to have been given one acting direction: be as earnest as possible. Outcasts definitely has that slightly quirky, off-world sci-fi look, that is distinctive of the BBC: this is not a criticism though as it visually and atmospherically reminded me of late 70s to 80s Dr Who, which may be why I liked it. SFX shots are good. There's some interesting concepts in there and some good acting - just, as I said, a bit too much earnestness at times.

I'd recommend giving it a go and try sticking with it; you may come to like it too.
