In May 1936, a maid in a Tokyo hotel discovered the corpse of a 41 year old man. He had been strangled and his penis had been cut off. A week later a woman was arrested. Having seen the Realm of the senses (in which both films get their original true story line) this film I feel is better and easier to watch, this seems more real than 'senses', however this may not be as lavish in production as the other.
Having said that this is a short gorgeous/sad/romantic movie... showing how the lust can bring a man and woman together (more so than the love behind the lust).
A perfect addition to the Pinky Cinema that Japan is in part so famous for!
