Rampaging Family Fun - Monsters vs. Aliens review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
05/04/2009

Monsters Vs Aliens is the latest animation from the Dreamworks studio and while far from Pixar’s hallmark of quality, it is fantastic family fun. Full of B-movie charm as Reese Witherspoon’s character finds herself enslaved by the government after becoming the ill-fated recipient of the most powerful substance in the world. Held captive in an underground bunker for the safety of general public, the army soon turns to the monsters as a last resort. Shunned by society, the five unique monsters have the chance to experience life above and stop the alien menace. Monsters Vs Aliens contains plenty of visual gags and comedy for all ages, plus those sly references that only adults will identify. The experience is a roller coaster, brash, colourful and reminiscent of Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! Critically far from perfect, but for kids and parents it is ideal entertainment.

Not just for kids - fantastic fun! - Monsters vs. Aliens review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
11/05/2010

When I first saw the trailer for Dreamwork's Monsters Vs Aliens I was hoping this film would be as good fun as Pixar's Monsters Inc - and I wasn't disappointed. The characters look funny, the plot quirky and fun, and the jokes (for both kids and adults) come quick and fast.

Without spoiling the plot, the US military enlists the help of 'monsters' to take on aliens advancing on the Earth, and with a great scene set on the Golden gate bridge you do find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat for many of the 90 minutes.

With its sprinkling of movie references, this is a film not to be just kept for the kids - in fact my boyfriend and I (both in our 30s) found it very funny without watching it with little ones.

If you enjoyed the fun of Monsters Inc, the spectacle of the Incredibles and the humour of Toy Story - I'm sure you'll find this great fun!
