    Snatch is most certainly one of the finer works by director Guy Ritchie and should be an essential to the best Heist films list. Ritchie has an edgy and funny at the same time approach to filmmaking which is in this case complimented with a great cast including Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, Benicio Del Toro and Dennis Farina among others. The plot of the film is set around a diamond heist gone wrong, a colourful Irish gypsy turned prize fighter... and a very temperamental dog. Snatch may be what you expect from a heist film, but it's also much more so be sure to rent it on DVD and Blu-ray if you haven't seen it.

    Reservoir Dogs is a feature-length debut of writer and director Quentin Tarantino, involving a diamond heist thus making it perfect for the best Heist films list. This is the film that showed Tarantino's talent to the wider audience, even though it was controversial and bloody, to say the least. Reservoir Dogs is set mainly in a warehouse where the story unfolds after a heist gone wrong; here we're introduced to Mr. White, Mr. Pink, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Orange and other characters. The question remains: who is the betrayer? All-star cast includes Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn, Lawrence Tierney and Tim Roth. Reservoir Dogs became a cult classic and has a loyal following as have other Tarantino films.

The Italian Job stars Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Edward Norton, Seth Green, Mos Def and Donald Sutherland. Charlie Croker (Wahlberg) and his team plan an elaborate gold heist, after being betrayed and left for dead in Italy. If you're a fan of the original, this loose remake could be a fun watch for a casual film night, including featurette The Mighty Minis of The Italian Job.
