One of the world's most famous writers revealed in a live cinema broadcast from London's Royal Festival Hall the secrets behind the creation of his favorite novel hero. With his literary work, John le Carré helped to define the last half century - from his extraordinary stories about the Cold War such as "The Spy Who Came Out of the Cold" and "Lady, King, Ace, Spy" about his powerful description of the arms trade in "The Night Manager" until the war on terror in "Puppets" ("A Most Wanted Man"). In this unique event, the author talks about the full range of his career and reflects on the ongoing history of his most famous creation, the plump, glasses-eyed spy George Smiley. For the publication of his new novel "A Legacy of Spies", the author will read extracts from this book even during the event. The narrative includes the return of some of his most iconic Cold War characters, including George Smiley and his faithful deputy, Peter Guillam, who are caught up in their past. With a rare question and answer session, the event offers the unique opportunity to experience one of the most outstanding chroniclers of our time live and in his own words. John le Carré will donate his fee for this evening to "Doctors Without Borders", one of the leading emergency medical aid organizations.
