Police Inspector Corrado is transferred to Sicily to investigate the Mafia, a difficult and dangerous job by any standards. To ward him off they send clear warning shots, killing a female acquaintance and one of his own men. Corrado trusts nobody - even his new colleagues, and he is right not to do so as, undaunted, he navigates his way towards restoring justice. Uncovering a narcotics ring, camouflaged by small legal business deals and shielded by a large bank, he begins court proceedings, but the Mafia kidnap his twelve-year-old daughter, for leverage. Blackmailed into withdrawing all of the charges and forced to destroy evidence, the suspects are acquitted and he is subsequently fired and disgraced. Anguished by the conspiracy against him and his loved ones, Corrado plots a revenge so ruthless that even the local Mafia - bosses see that the totally under-estimated him.
