Synopsis:
Starring screen legend Robert De Niro, Godsend is the story of an eight year old boy named Adam Duncan. A kind, thoughtful and well behaved child, he is the apple of his parent's eye until one day he is knocked down by a car and tragically killed. With both parents totally grief stricken, the mysterious Dr Richard Wells (De Niro) offers them another chance of happiness. He can create a clone of Adam that will be identical to the child they lost. Nine months later they have their child back. Identical in every way, it's like Adam had never left them. He has his mother's eyes, his father's smile, but when he crosses the age at which he died terrifying things begin to happen.

Better than average thriller. - Godsend review by CP Customer

When their son Adam is killed in a car accident, Paul and Jessie Duncan are approached by Dr. Richard Wells, who claims he has perfected the ability to clone someone by using a single cell. He tells them he is interested in giving them a second chance with a genetically identical child using DNA from their dead son. After some initial unease, the Duncan's agree, and the clone of their dead son Adam is born nine months later. The first eight years are great, with both Paul and Jessie feeling like they did the right thing to get that second chance, but when Adam reaches the age at which he had originally died, he begins having night terrors and acting strangely. The story has a satisfying creepiness to it, but the trouble is that it has too many serious plot flaws which distract from the story, at times it plods along a very slow pace, and the ending is somewhat of a letdown. Overall, it's a watchable film and for fans of horror-suspense films it's better than average. Not great, not terrible, but worth renting if you like this genre of film.
