- Synopsis:
- Burt Lancaster plays Owen Daybright who is adopted son of rancher Arch Strobie (Ray Collins), but ever since he can remember he's been covering up for the wrong doings of his no good stepbrother Lee (Robert Walker). But however even tempered Owen may be there has to come a time when he has to stand up to be counted and Lee is certainly giving plenty of ammunition for Owen to return fire when and if the time comes. As tempers rise and patience is tested the feuding escalates and spills over into the daily ranch activities, but as Owen is foremen he has to maintain a level of order-not easily achieved when rounding up several thousand head of steer with a hothead cowboy in your midst.
