Maddison, a rancher and his grown daughter Louise are holed up in their house after a nuclear holocaust has decimated most of the worlds population, their home having been protected from the radioactive fallout by the surrounding mountains, Five survivors including a geologist, a crook and his girlfriend find their house and descend upon the rancher and his daughter. Conflicts of a romantic nature erupt among Louise and her two erstwhile suitors, gun-wielding Tony and geologist Rick but these are shunted aside when it develops that the valley's infected with mutated radioactive mutant creature.
