In this stunning satire on the state of film making, director Laurent Baffie and Daniel Russo play themselves as they attempt locate their car keys. Deliciously twisting traditional filmmaking conventions, Les Clefs de Bagnole is a "who's who" of the cream of French filmmaking talent and boasts a dizzying array of cameos from prominent producers, Claude Berri and Alain Sarde, alongside stars including, Jean-Marc Barr, Eric Cantona, Jean Rouchefort, Daniel Auteuil, and Gérard Depardieu.
I laughed for 90 minutes! This film about filming is a cracker. Although the genre is not unknown, the director and cast carry off this story beautifully. I love the breaks in the narrative to switch to interviews of the 'man in the street' - lovely idea. Full of references to the film industrry and film conventions, you'll love the slick way it's all done.
