When a news crew decides to trial a fire fighting team, they never suspect that the first call for help they respond to that night may be their last. Now they’re trapped in an apartment complex sealed off by the government. With no way of escape, they find themselves surrounded by frightened residents who are infected with a deadly mutant virus. What happens next is only known because of the horrific footage they left behind.
Identical but shallow

A quick-fire Hollywood remake of the Spanish horror .REC. While the original did have its issues, the intense fear factor and being trapped within was well exploited. In this edition Dowdle has almost recreated the film shot by shot, which begs the question why not just rent the original? Even by approaching a carbon copy in this way, the performances from the actors involved are not as convincing and the atmosphere is diluted. Yet another example of how seeing the original foreign film is the better option here.
