Synopsis:
"The Black Pirate" is a 1926 adventure film which tells the story of a young nobleman who infiltrates a ship full of pirates to avenge his father's death. In one long, dramatic scene, Fairbanks acting alone seizes a merchant ship. In another famous scene, he sticks his dagger into the mainsail and rides it all the way down from top to bottom, cutting the sail in half as he goes. The film features many special effects, including some spectacular models of sailing ships

awful soundtrack - The Black Pirate review by VW

Spoiler Alert

This is a decent looking print but the soundtrack is random classical music not matched in any way to the action. Watching a lighthearted scene of pirates up to their usual tricks backed by a string quartet playing a rather slow, mournful tune makes a mockery of the whole thing.

As expected rather dated but glad I have now seen Fairbanks doing his stuff. The sailing down the mainsail was copied

by Lancaster in the Crimson Pirate.Music was not needed specially as it did not fit.
