Arnhem
By September 1944, the Second World War had almost reached a conclusion. It was agreed that a single army should be given priority of the supplies to enact a plan that would deal the final blow and win the war before the end of 1944. The plan was to unleash the largest airborne assault in the history of warfare. To fly deep into the heart of industrial Gemany and capture no less than five key bridges. Ultimately, the final bridge at Arnhem proved a bridge too far.
BurmaJapanese occupation of Burma in 1942 had cut off the last land route by which the Allies could deliver aid to the Chinese Government. However it was not until the spring of 1944 that the allies were finally able to attempt the reconquest of Burma; it was to prove a hard fought battle amongst difficult terrain and strong Japanese resistance. In the end however disease, starvation, monsoon rains and the allied army proved too much for the Japanese. - Studio:
