Very poor.
Who gave the go ahead to green light this movie ?
Some of the worst acting and accents I have seen in a while.
Don’t bother.
Agatha & the Midnight Murders was quite startlingly terrible. The budget looked so thin you could practically see the actors handing money to the set designers to cheer things up. Both the plot & the script were ridiculous. I felt sorry for the poor actors who were reduced to hamming up foreign accents to frankly offensive levels. I was reminded of Victoria Wood's Acorn Antiques sketches, TV comedy 'Allo Allo', but none of it in a good way. If you fancy spending the best part of two hours, repeatedly asking yourself the question, "Surely this cannot get any worse", then this is the film for you!
Hats off to anyone who can get a film made, that never changes. But this is so eye-wateringly bad you have to ask why. My theory? Shot back to back with a subsequently well-reviewed Agatha film on location in Malta, my guess is that this was just the first draft of a script they suddenly thought they could shoot “while we’re out there” - cos it is about three locations and lots of talk. (And possibly use up some sort of Maltese tax break - completely legal and very common.) Doesn’t work out for them I’m afraid.
