- Synopsis:
General Steve Mitchell (Peter Weller), is assigned by the U.S. Pentagon's Security Council to update the Embassy's computer system in Romania. Together with his stepson, Mitchell flies to Bucharest where he learns that his partner on the mission is one-time lover Erica Long (Daryl Hannah). From their position in the secret computer room of the Embassy, Mitchell uses the surveillance cameras to look around the building. To their horror they watch as Serbian Liberation Front terrorists storm the building's lobby, guns blazing. In a matter of moments, the U.S. Embassy is taken siege, along with 37 hostages. With time of the essence, the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, send in General Swain (Tom Berenger) to diffuse the situation. As events develop and tension mounts, it becomes clear that there is a danger within the Embassy greater than anyone could imagine and in the hands of the terrorists, could pose a threat to the entire world.
