Although very expensive and time-consuming for animators who never extensively dealt with realistic human figures before, the Superman series not only achieved critical acclaim, but was also very successful. For two and a half years, the Fleischer studio created some of the most cinematic and visually stunning cartoons ever seen and in the process set the bar very high for future animators to follow.
