I really enjoyed this movie , Sally Potter has really gone deep into the heart of Tango. Her undestanding of the traditional dance of Argentina for an English woman is spot on.
Pablo Veron is amazing , if you appreciate dance
you will be mesmerize by his performance.
This is not a conventional movie but still very enjoyable.
Complete rubbish! Pretence and nonsense poorly disguised as art. The only thing this film has going for it is the photography.
one of few directors so content with their own mediocrity. plays with atmosphere the same way a young teeny sets to reference all she has read up to that point. i did not chose tango, the tango chose me, says Pablo.
her casting is appalling, as are the accompanying musical sounds.
painful cliche after cliche both in script and direction, you can actually guess scenes and dialogue yet to come pretty accurately.
deciding to cast herself as the best example of a creative older woman searching for the passion in dance and the inevitable relationship with the teacher, her lack of acting skills together with a boring teenage diary style of melodrama in this self indulgent twaddle make it one to avoid. if it wasnt trying to be all ooh im just a natural artist and this is my story of how i changed my shoes, (chaussures in french you know), just for one mad mad day, it could be left without review. cos its so bad and pretends depth, i set a warning. i vote a miss.
