Set against the backdrop of 18th Century Quebec, Battle of the Brave is the epic tale of great passion and sacrifice in a time of war. Marie-Loup Carignan (Noémie Godin-Vigneau), a peasant woman and single mother, is madly in love with François (David La Haye), a French-Canadian trapper. Discovering that local French authorities are in league with the British, François becomes a resistance leader - a course which endangers everything the lovers hold dear - in this grand scale adventure co-starring Irène Jacob, Jason Isaacs, Tim Roth and Gérard Depardieu.

I got this film in anticipation of an epic on the battle for Quebec. It was not. All you see for the supposed battle is some Howitzers going off for four minutes and that's it. The rest is the story of the politics of the time wrapped around a lengthy love story. Despite its excellent photography, costumes and acting I was so reliefed when it finished and I could go to bed.
