Unemployed journalist Guy Foster returns home and is met by his wife Melissa and their friends Paula and Felix Hepburn waiting to go out to a party. Feeling exhausted Guy refuses to go, instead opting for a quiet night in writing his novel.
Later that evening Guy receives a mysterious phone call from his wife imploring him to meet up with her. Reluctantly Guy agrees, however, he has difficulty finding the address that Melissa has given him. He stops at a parked police car to ask directions and is shocked to find out that the police have discovered the body of a woman....his wife.
