Tis the season on both sides of the portal as Debbie is gearing up for Christmas and Yonderland is celebrating Thanktival...Christmas is a stressful time for all of us but it's doubly headache-inducing for Debbie Maddox aka the Chosen One. We meet back up with Debbie as she's getting the Maddox household ready for an imminent Christmas Eve party and angrily tracking an undelivered Christmas present for her in-laws. In Yondcrland, our favourite idiot Elders are preparing for 'Thanktival' a Yondcrland festival where (in true Yondcrlandian style) people buy presents to thank their friends and family for all they've done for them throughout the year but before they can open them they're gobbled up by a Monster called Chompus. Meanwhile the Elders' Youngers are preparing for the annual Thanktival Song Contest although 143 Days of Thanktival is an awful lot of days to sit through when your singers arc as tone deaf as this lot.
The best family show on the box returns for a third series, as Debbie Maddox continues her adventures in the fantastical, puppet-filled world of Yonderland, trying to bring order to the assorted idiots of the realm. It's apparently a time of peace and prosperity in Yonderland, as Debbie has fulfilled the prophecy that brought her (via a portal in her kitchen cupboard) to Yonderland as the Chosen One, and her arch-nemesis Imperatrix is gone. Meanwhile, in the real world, Debbie's husband Peter (Dan Skinner) has been offered a promotion that means the family must relocate to Glasgow. After the arrival of the long-lost Elder Cuddly Dick (Stephen Fry), Debbie feels she can leave the realm in his safe hands. But is she really ready to leave Yonderland forever, and can Yonderland survive without its Chosen One?
The hair may be short and the suit too small, but the Hegelian dialectic is spot-on as erstwhile Ford Cortina violator and alternative comedian, Alexei Sayle, browbeats us with more semi-smile inducing madness. Intelligent, incisive, witty humour like this only happens by a freak of nature so tuck in to all six episodes from the third and final series of the great man's STUFF.
Debbie, 'The Chosen One', is thrown back into the fantastical world of Yonderland for an all-new series of adventures, where she is once again called upon by the 'Wise' Council of Elders to help a new array of idiots in distress. Can Debbie finally overcome try-hard evil overlord Negatus? Can she continue to keep Yonderland secret from her husband Peter? Will she stop her terrifying nemesis Imperatrix from conquering the entire realm? And can she do it all / before the kids get home from school?
Debbie Maddox doesn't know how she's going to fill her days now that her twins have started school. By the time she's cleaned the house from top to bottom and become frighteningly addicted to a daytime quiz show, she starts to think she's going mad - particularly when an elf appears in her kitchen cupboard telling her she's needed in another land. For she is The Chosen One: a saviour destined to deliver Yonderland from the fast-approaching forces of darkness. As Debbie does her best to help incompetent knights, overly-truthful monks and a race of people intent on firing the cleverest amongst them into the sun, the question is: can she fulfil the prophecy and defeat Negatus and his demon minions, and will she make it back to the real world in time for the school pick up?
