Synopsis:
Chihiro, a headstrong 10-year-old girl, is unhappy that her family are moving house and that she will have to make new friends. As they make their way to the new home, Chihiro's father takes a detour to explore a mysterious tunnel in the woods. On the other side is what seems to be a deserted theme park but is in fact a ghostly town. Unwittingly, they have strayed into the Land of the Spirits, a world of dreamlike scenery inhabited by ancient gods and magical beings, ruled over by the sorceress, Yubaba. With her parents held captive and Yubaba set on enslaving them forever, Chihiro must use all her energy to survive in this strange new place.
With the help of Haku, a brave young spirit, she is forced to overcome her Pears and join an epic battle for her family's freedom.

This film is undoubted one of the finest I have ever seen. A beautiful animated film that makes you feel like you are five years old listening to a bedtime story.

JAPANESE ANIME CLASSIC - Spirited Away review by GF

Beautiful, moving, funny with great music this is rightly a Japanese Anime classic.

A little girl and her parents take a detour on their way to moving into their new house and find themselves in a strange world of magic, gods, fear and wonder. The characters are imaginative and the story bobs along nicely.

The music as so often in these films iis also beautiful.

A feast for the eye - Spirited Away review by CP Customer

This is now one of my favourite films - gorgeous to look at, especially the ferry and the train journey from the castle, and I loved the wonderfully bright, intense colours. The story is engagingly told and the little girl and surrounding characters very likeable - even the villain is rather likeable, in her own scary way. The episode with the river god who comes in for a bath is a highlight. Magical and full of charm.
