- Synopsis:
- Totsuko (voice of Sayu Suzukawa) is a high school student with the ability to see the 'colors' of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi (voice of Akari Takaishi), a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn't play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui (voice of Taisei Kido), a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true 'colors'?

FF to the last 15mins - The Colors Within review by Alphaville
For our standard Japanese anime schoolgirl heroine, everything has a colour aura. This enables the director to play with the film’s colour palette… and it’s well-animated in the typical Japanese school-set lo-key way… but the long talky scenes, expressionless faces and one-note vocals (even in the VO) soon pall. The drawn-out flimsy plot has her joining an electronic band and this eventually leads to the film’s saving grace. If it gets as boring for you as it did for me, FF to the last fifteen minutes, where the band perform a beautifully-realised rock-on concert. If only the rest of the film had such energy.
