Synopsis:
Griff Rhys Jones gets under the skin of three of the world's great cities and explores a day-in-the-life of, New York London and Paris. Avoiding the usual tourist traps, he searches out the quirky and unusual secrets and traditions that form the heart and soul of each city and in doing so, Griff captures the essence of each city's unique personality.

New York
Griff visits one of the world's greatest cities, the Big Apple and begins by looking at how the grand public and private buildings illustrate the city and its citizens. The typical ambition of the super rich New Yorkers often bordering on megalomania enabled New York to have the world's largest concentration of skyscrapers, several of which when built were the world's highest at the time. Griff examines how expensive it is to live and work in the city and joins window-cleaners to get the eerie feel of descending the Empire State Building, straight into the heart of the city.
London
In England's capital Griff looks at how London continuously grew from a new Roman town, to one of Europe's most prominent metropolises. He visits the architectural and archaeological remains of its long and eminent past, and admires quaint traditions whilst pointing out the major developments over the years. Some of London's most famous landmarks take centre stage and Griff looks at how the city remains the financial heart of Europe and the link between Wall Street and Asian markets.
Paris
Griff is in the French capital, object of great chauvinistic pride and vanity. Its famous mind boggling traffic mayhem is a result of some over ambitious planning when its street grid was laid out. It's extremely rich in monuments, yet the Eiffel Tower, hated by so many celebrities, draws by far the most visitors. A clandestine group does much needed restorations on the building leaving the city services to concentrate on more mundane daily concerns. The rich capital -is obsessed with fine cuisine and the fashion industry, and Griff is thrown right into the heart of the city to explore what makes Paris so special.
