- Synopsis:
- After the Civil War, a Unionist convoy transporting one million dollars is attacked by the ex-Confederate Colonel Jonas (Joseph Cotten) and his three sons. The fanatical Jonas wants the money to re-form his regiment and to re-ignite the war against the North. However, first they have to smuggle a coffin crammed with the stolen cash across a perilous frontier full of rivalries, treason, and violence.
