This endearing, wacky comedy offered Winona Ryder one of her most memorable teenage roles as Dinky Bossetti. An adopted, alienated, aspiring artist, fourteen year old Dinky is an outsider in the small town of Clyde, Ohio. Everyday life in Clyde is turned upside down when its only home-grown celebrity returns in triumph. Roxy Carmichael (Ava Fabian) left town fifteen years earlier and her claim to fame is dubious at best, but this juvenile-delinquent-turned-celebrity is the most exciting thing in Clyde's collective memory. Obsessed by Roxy, Dinky becomes convinced she's actually her illegitimate daughter. Denton Webb (Jeff Daniels), Roxy's former lover, is the only one who knows the answer to Dinky's question. - Actors:
