Synopsis:
Selected by Martin Scorsese as one of the best films in Polish cinema history, Aleksander Ford's legendary epic combines spectacular battle scenes with political intrigue and tender romance. In the early 15th century, a young nobleman returns from war and falls in love but is drawn into conflict with a corrupt order of crusading Knights, leading to a bloody final confrontation. A richly coloured and beautifully-crafted tale of revenge, religious fervour and romance, Ford's film is one of the most popular and successful Polish films ever.

Try to ignore the technical defects of the DVD - Knights of the Teutonic Order review by IH

Excellent film of this type and for its time, but the source material has limitations,as apparently explained in the booklet which is not supplied to renters. The original screen ratio was 2.35:1 and has been reduced to 1.77:1, resulting in occasional decapitation, and of course degradation of the camera framing. The print looks its age.

Boring - Knights of the Teutonic Order review by JS

I was quite happy when I found this Film,as I always wanted to see this film. OK,that the quality of the film cannot be measured by today's Standard . So one has to make allowances. But this film only seemed to show the Battle, rather than telling a story.

Very disappointed.
